COMMA EXERCISE #2 1. Grocery stores are very sophisticated operations. 2. Grocery stores have many aisles, endcaps, and rows of products. 3. Moreover, grocery stores have items placed into different configurations. 4. Grocery stores are managed by stockers, customer service representatives, and managers. 5. The stockers help to clean stock and fix shelves. 6. In some cases, a stocker may also care for the endcaps, a place where products are placed to be better marketed or promoted. 7. Customer service representatives may be assigned specific departments, such as fruits, vegetables, meats, the bakery, and the dairy section. 8. The customer service representative will remove old product, fix new product to the shelves, and clean the section. 9. In addition, a customer service representative may work on a register, answer phone calls, and coordinate with others to attend to customer needs. 10. One of the most important individuals in the store is the manager who supervises the employees, hires new employees, and manages day-to-day operations. 11. The manager or supervisor is also in charge of supervising product orders, inventory control and accounting measures. 12. In addition, the manager makes sure to mediate problems between employees, mediate problems between distributors and accounting, and takes direction from the upper administration of the company, usually an area manager or coordinator. 13. So, as one can see, a grocery store is a complex operation. 14. Next time you visit a grocery store, make sure to thank your cashier, your manager, and the stockers for the work they do.
