(Concession) Underline the Conjuncts in the following paragraph. A friend of mine described fishing as Zen Buddhism for country folk. He insisted that fishing provides a sense of relaxation and deep mediation. Additionally, he professed that fishing is a discipline. Moreover, if a fisherman is undisciplined, he or she will be unsuccessful in catching fish. Therefore, a fisherman must maintain a focus and must discipline himself to be motionless in the water. In other words, the fisherman acts like a fierce warrior, patient yet ready to strike. His or her focus must not be deterred for a second; otherwise, he or she might lose the fish, the bait, or even the hook. Underline the Disjuncts in the following paragraph. Boldly, Christopher asked Kate to be his date to the dance. Remarkably, she said, “yes.” And, ultimately, they went. Yet, actually, while at the dance, they did not dance together. Basically, they went together, but Kate found another guy at the dance. Unfortunately, she danced with the other guy and not Christopher. Clearly, the other guy was better looking and a better dancer than Christopher. But, Christopher was undeterred. Quickly, he pulled himself together, and he asked one of the young ladies sitting against the wall (with no date) to dance. She accepted. And, unexpectedly, they fell in love.
