ADJECTIVES EXERCISE #1 
 
1. The morning had been rainy. 
 
 
2. The sky was dark and gloomy. 
 
 
3. I sat in my cramped office doing stupid mundane tasks. 
 
 
4. I glanced around my plain desk looking for a few papers when the phone rang. 
 
 
5. My friend was on the other line asking if I could meet him to discuss his clumsy girlfriend. 
 
 
6. I told him that clumsy girlfriends were not very amusing. 
 
 
7. My friend insisted that this story was very entertaining. 
 
 
8. So, I met him for late-night coffee after my long day at work. 
 
 
9. He told me how his girlfriend managed to dye his dog a curious shade of purple.  
 
 
10. "A purple dog?" I asked. 
 
 
11. "Yes, she was trying to use industrial dye to color one of her shirts when her small dog 
jumped into the washer." 
 
 
12. Because she had not noticed the silly dog in the washer, she poured the dye into the tank 
and flipped it "on." 
 
 
13. The little white dog soaked in the purple dye for more than a few minutes before the agitator 
scared it. 
 
 
14. The purple dog then yelped and the clumsy girlfriend came to the rescue.
